John A. Wheeler is the Founder and CEO of Wheelhouse Advisors, where he delivers independent research and strategic advisory services across Integrated Risk Management (IRM) and RiskTech markets. With more than 35 years of experience as a business executive, researcher, and strategic advisor, he works with Fortune 500 executives, technology providers, and boards of directors on IRM operating models, technology selection, and platform roadmaps that modernize risk management execution and strengthen organizational resilience.

Before founding Wheelhouse Advisors, Mr. Wheeler served for more than a decade at Gartner, where he created the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) market category and led Gartner’s global research agenda for risk management technology markets. He authored Gartner research on IRM and vendor evaluations and was recognized with Gartner’s Risk Management Thought Leadership Award (2013) and as a Top Author across Gartner organizations (2018, 2019).

Earlier, he was Senior Vice President for Enterprise Risk Management at SunTrust (now Truist). Mr. Wheeler holds a BBA in Finance and an MBA in Organizational Development and Management from Emory University.
